Coaches
Lessons are delivered by University Tennis Coach Euan Bell (LTA Level 3) and Pete MacKay (LTA Level 2).
In 2018, Euan joined the Saints Sport coaching team as a full-time tennis coach, developing the student, staff, community, and junior tennis programmes. During semesters, Euan delivers sessions to A, B and C squad players in large groups, small groups and individually on a weekly basis respectively. He continues to develop his coaching skills alongside some of the top coaches in Scotland at their respective clubs or academies.
Previously, Euan spent nine months as the University of St Andrews Tennis Co-ordinator which focused primarily on co-ordinating a schedule of student volunteering opportunities, organising additional match play opportunities and mentoring student coaches in primary school tennis programmes.
Euan is an LTA Level 3 coach with a great deal of experience developing inclusive club tennis programmes and working with players competing in their local tennis leagues.
Euan achieved an honours degree in Sports Development covering key areas pertinent to sports performance and improvement.
Pete joined the University of St Andrews in 2018 working within the Junior Saints multisport programme, which saw him working with kids aged 4-12 to provide experience and basic skills of a wide variety of sports including tennis, football, hockey, athletics and gymnastics. Having spent his early years as a coach working within a variety of clubs and programmes, Pete has great experience delivering to a range of age groups and ability levels.
Pete is a LTA Accredited Level 2 coach and is currently working to attain his Level 3 coach qualification over the summer months. Currently, he coaches at Wormit and Newport Tennis Club working alongside the rest of the coaching team to deliver a large junior and adult coaching programme. He has also been involved in running the Development and men’s C squad training sessions at the University of St Andrews Tennis Club.
